Meet Betina (Tina) Peterson, Director Integrity & Compliance and Privacy Officer for St. Agnes Medical Centers

Betina (Tina) may not be a Central Valley native, but Fresno has been the place she calls home for more than three decades. The latter 19 of those years, she has worked at Saint Agnes Medical Center, and presently serves as its Director of Integrity & Compliance and Privacy Officer.  Tina notes that she has a love-hate relationship with health care, as the thought of a needle terrifies her, but she can’t imagine working in any other industry.

In her role at Saint Agnes, Tina assists colleagues with understanding the importance of compliance.  Typically, people associate “compliance” with rules and regulations. While those are certainly part of it, health care compliance is primarily focused on improving patient care, by ensuring that the decisions being made by hospitals and physicians are in the best interest of the patient’s they serve. Compliance is all about doing the right thing, and for Tina, there’s nothing more rewarding than knowing she is influencing positive patient outcomes each and every day.

Tina has a master’s degree in Business Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems.  She is a proud alum of Leadership Fresno’s Class 36 – or as some will recall: the COVID class. While the year was cut short due to the pandemic, the experiences she was able to enjoy gave her greater insight about Fresno and all that it has to offer.  Tina is excited to join the Board of Directors for the Leadership Fresno Alumni Association, and looks forward to further expanding her knowledge about our great city and the many opportunities available to its residents.
